Receiving emails from a person you don’t know can be annoying. That being said, there have been times when you received a well-crafted email from someone trying to build a relationship with you, and over time they subtly pitch their product or service. 

Please note that a cold email is not a marketing email where you have opted in to receive updates. That’s why getting someone’s attention using a cold email is tough but it does fetch you a high ROI which’s why it is still alive. So what makes cold emails stand out from the crowd?


  1. A catchy subject line

Using elements of personalization in the subject line will help grab the prospect’s attention in a cluttered inbox. You can also use FOMO and create a sense of urgency. Additionally, try to keep it short to avoid it from getting cut off by your email client.


  1. Personalized body 

Right from the beginning of the email, try your best to impress the prospect with personalization. Pay them a compliment, congratulate them for an achievement, find common ground or a mutual connection to make better bonds. 


  1. Proofreading

No one likes poorly written emails with bad grammar and typos. Make sure you check your email content before hitting the send button.  


  1. Adding a CTA

With a clearly-defined CTA (call-to-action) you can help drive the prospect to the action you want them to take. Without one, the email recipient won’t know what to do next. 


  1. Adding a professional signature

Sign off with a professional-looking email signature with links to your website and social media. Your photo or company logo can make you look credible enough!
